An interview with Michele Paradise

What are the benefits of your bridal coaching service?

Some brides enjoy being the centre of attention and some don’t.  Even the ones that enjoy being the centre of attention would benefit from having some guidance on how to work with the camera, how to stand to look thinner as white is an unforgiving colour, what to do with your hands, how to smile when you don’t think you have any more smiles left!  Your ‘official’ photographs may be reportage and you may wonder why you need to know how to pose for the camera.  Trust me, your friends will be snapping photos of you on their phones and they will be on Facebook the next day.  Those are the ones that really matter as they will be seen by friends far and wide!  None of us were born knowing how to wear high heels elegantly, gracefully and painlessly.  I will show you how to make your wedding shoes your new best friend and feel like they’ve been there all your life.  Any bride would benefit from knowing how to do these things easily and with confidence and the best part is that they are life skills that you take with you beyond the wedding day!

How will a bride feel after a coaching session with you?

My aim is to calm down the bride, give her tips and techniques to use on the lead up and preparation of the wedding as well as on the big day.  The feedback I get from the brides I have worked with is that they feel more focused, confident, calmer and that they make better decisions as a result.  The most important aspect of the session is that they learn how to stay in the moment.  Most brides will tell you that the day went so fast and they hardly remember it.  I teach the bride techniques that enable her to stay in the moment and enjoy and remember the day more. Great, who doesn’t want to learn that!?

Wedding at Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich, Destination wedding in London

Wedding at Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich. Canadian and Sri Lankan wedding

A and T live in Canada and planned their destination wedding in London from across the sea. The bride grew up in the UK but moved to Canada for work which is where she met her soon to be husband. The groom was born and bred in Canada and brought over dozens and dozens of his Canadian friends and family to help celebrate his marriage to the bride who is from Sri Lankan heritage. Most of her family resides in the UK but others flew in from Sri Lanka making the guest count a near 250!

The bride and groom are huge music lovers so they prioritised much of their budget in this area. They had traditional Sri Lankan drummers drum them down the aisle, a famous Cuban band for the cocktail reception, and a celebrity band fly in from Sri Lanka for the dancing. They created some beautiful memories.

Truly exquisite, a Colorado wedding

L and P, an American couple in Colorado

This couple wanted to do something vintage, something glamorous, something that you would see in a classic Hollywood movie but with colour! Months later this is what we created. They served milkshakes and mini cakes throughout the night and left their guests truly amazed. They like pearls, roses and mirrors.

Wedding Caterers

One of the most important decisions of your planning process will be choosing your wedding caterer then selecting which food to serve your guests. Guests will always remember the food served at an event, hopefully for the right reason! Choose carefully and keep in close contact with your caterer. Always taste test the food and play around with the china, glassware and linen. Some venues have in house catering and do not permit outside caterers- or require additional fees for use of outside catering.

To save on catering fees, cut out the dessert course and serve wedding cake instead. This is also a great way to get your guests to enjoy a slice of the wedding cake.  After a three course meal with dessert, many guests pass on the wedding cake and that beautiful cake goes to waste. Always serve local and seasonal food and remember to ask your vendors about wedding day meal requirements.
