American wedding in UK

S and B, Americans in London

The bride is from South Carolina and the groom from North Carolina. They reside in London and chose to have their wedding in the UK so their friends and family could visit the place where they fell in love. They’re a traditional couple and wanted to have classic and sophisticated elements throughout the wedding. The wedding was just outside the city of London at the beautiful Wrotham Park, so they wanted to add a touch of the country and therefore incorporated bundles of lavender throughout. The colour scheme was predominately white with accents of purple.

Below pictures taken by FlutterFly Events. We’re still waiting on professional photographs and will post them shortly!

Destination weddings in London, New Yorkers in UK

Over here at FlutterFly Events we’ve been so busy organising weddings and events that we haven’t posted many pictures after the big day. Some clients understandably ask us to treat their celebration with complete confidence, but please enjoy our below portfolio from those who have kindly given us permission to have a sneak preview into their special day.

W and J, New Yorkers in London

This couple lives in NYC and worked with me from across the pond for their destination wedding in London. We incorporated British culture and goods into the wedding day, but of course they received the service and style you would expect from the States as they worked with me, an American wedding planner in London! There were 110 guests from America, France and the UK who were amazed by this beautiful wedding at One Great George Street.

Erika Unbehaun in the press

I’m honoured to have been asked to write for a New Zealand wedding magazine! I’ve been asked to write on various wedding planning topics for their quarterly magazine and the first one that came out was about how to work with your caterer. The second one is due to hit NZ stands next month so keep watching this space.

Wedding in London

So you’re getting married in a big city! Guest management should be a big priority for your destination wedding in London as the guests are what make the wedding a successful event. The majority of your guests will be flying overseas to celebrate your marriage so you’ll want to put a good amount of thought and consideration into their travel plans. For example you could do the following:

  • Wedding website: Get a wedding website so your guests can log on to find up to date information regarding travel plans, hotels, venues, pre/post events, etc. Try Wedding Window
  • Hotel options: London has over 500 hotels so list three to five hotels in different prices ranges they could stay in. If a transportation company will collect your guests on the wedding day, be sure to mention where the collection point will be as some guests may choose their hotel based on that.
  • Airport to London:Furnish them with transportation options from Gatwick and Heathrow airport to central London. Options are black cabs, mini cabs, London Underground, the Heathrow Express, and the Gatwick Express. Provide them with websites and phone numbers for each.
  • Welcome Bags: I always recommend compiling a ‘welcome bag’ for each hotel room.  As guests arrive they will be welcomed with a personalised bag of British goodies and a welcome note with useful information and contact details for getting around London. In this note you should put contact details for local cab companies, your favorite restaurants, how to use the Underground train system, and any information relating to the wedding, pre and post events. The key here is to make the trip as easy and hassle free for your guests while providing a “goodie bag” with the best of British goods, sweets, and souvenirs. Of course you’ll also want to incorporate your own personality and style into it.
