Happy New Year! Similar to fashion, wedding trends are constantly changing. Most of our couples opt for a traditional wedding and ignore the fad, but for those of you that want a contemporary and trend driven wedding see the below for 2013 wedding trends – I’m loving them!

This trend has been going for a while now and I don’t see it stopping anytime soon.

Crystals and bling were a big part of weddings in 2012. I haven’t seen this trend fade in the UK, which I’m glad of as I love a bit of sparkle.

Art Deco

I predict Art Deco weddings to be a big wedding trend for 2013. Think lace, pearls, fur, feathers, gorgeous jewelery, and silky materials.

Over the past few years weddings have become much more personalised than they used to be. Couples have monograms, they name tables after personal places, people, or things, and ¬†they’re hands on with DIY projects. This year we will see even more personalisation in every wedding across the globe.

Americans getting married in London

As an American wedding planner in London, I work with numerous American couples who cross the Ocean to get married in this beautiful country. My top tip for you Americans getting married in London is to choose a venue with history, a venue that has character, a venue that has antiques and other historical features, and a venue that is representative of British History. We don’t have these old historic building in the States and if you have numerous American guests flying over to celebrate your marriage, they will thoroughly enjoy a day in history. As always, more tips to come…

London wedding venues

A London wedding is a very special event. There are historic venues, classic venues, urban chic venues, museums, and moderns venues. There’s nothing that the city can’t offer. The reception venue sets the mood and atmosphere for your wedding celebration so if you can, visit the venue in person as the photos will not tell you how the venue feels, sounds, smells and is overall well equipped for your big day. Many people know within moments of setting foot onto the site if the venue sets the right backdrop for their wedding.

Before sourcing both ceremony and reception venues take some time with your partner to find your style. Would you like to surprise your guests? Make them laugh? Make them cry? Have them throw on their dinner suit and black tie or cowboy boots and straw hat? What’s your style? Have this show in your venue. A ballroom wedding is very different to a garden wedding. Have your style carry through your entire wedding and reflect this in all aspects of planning such as your invitations, wedding attire and transportation.

Classic Bride: You plan to wear your hair in a simple updo, you love classic A-line wedding gowns with simple lines and you want a venue that’s timeless. Try The Berkeley

Chic Modernist: For the trendy bride. You’re up to date with fashion trends, eat at trendy restaurants and go to the hottest clubs. Your friends are expecting an eye popping celebration. Your venue should have modern appeal and amenities like the Kensington Roof Gardens

Bruce Oldfield launch party

I was one of the lucky few invited to Bruce Oldfield’s launch party last week for the launch of his new perfume and china tableware collection. I also saw models gracefully wear his new bridal collection as we sipped cocktails and enjoyed a selection of afternoon tea nibbles. The tableware collection will be available in the UK from early summer through Bruce Oldfield’s boutique and Royal Crown Derby’s network, and the perfume will be available through the boutique, Bruce Oldfield online, and Libertys comes July 25th.
